Canada man takes apart iPhone Duo and shares surprising details about what is inside
Taking apart Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo is no easy task, with several teardown attempts ending in disaster.

Device. Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo.
Biggest challenge. Removing the inner display without destroying it.
Even Apple struggles. Even Apple repair experts can’t take it apart without causing some issues
Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo has already given repair enthusiasts something to think about, and it seems getting inside the device is much harder than it looks.
A Canadian creator, Phone Repair Guru, decided to take on the challenge after watching several teardown videos, but what happened during the repair process was pretty surprising.
Rather than ending up with a completely destroyed inner screen, the creator managed to end up with something that looked like a real phone.
This video is raising some interesting questions about how Apple designed its new device.
Taking apart Apple’s foldable iPhone isn’t for the faint-hearted
In a video of the gadget shared online, the creator explained that they had been watching several iPhone Duo teardown attempts, but almost all of them seemed to end the same way.
“Am I the only one who actually got the Duo back together?” he asked.
The creator pointed out that almost every teardown they had watched resulted in the inner display being completely broken.

Even Apple’s own repair tutorials appear surprisingly aggressive when it comes to removing the display, which could make anyone think twice before attempting to fix one themselves.
However, there is a reason behind the approach.
“The reality is you’re probably only going to remove the inner display when it’s already broken,” the creator explained.
In other words, Apple’s repair process seems designed around the likelihood that anyone attempting this repair is already dealing with a damaged screen.

Apple deserves some credit for its foldable design
Despite the difficulties involved in taking the device apart, the creator was surprisingly impressed with what Apple had managed to achieve.
“I have to say Apple did a pretty good job at designing this thing,” they added.
That’s an interesting observation considering how delicate foldable phone displays can be and how challenging it can be to access the components underneath them.

The fact that the creator managed to put the device back together without suffering the same fate as other teardown attempts is particularly impressive.
However, there was one other detail the creator started to discuss before the video ended.
“The price of it though, it’s something else...”

Foldable iPhone repairs could be an expensive headache
While the cost of getting your iPhone Duo fixed at an Apple store is shockingly high, this teardown highlights a potential downside of owning a foldable smartphone.
If removing the inner display is this difficult, even relatively straightforward repairs could become an expensive headache for owners.
And with the inner screen being one of the device’s most important features, keeping it intact could be a priority for anyone considering Apple’s iPhone Duo.
